We are very lucky to be able to have our local school district lend us a bus and bus driver for the children to get a chance to ride a bus. Last week both classes got to take advantage of a bus ride and they had a ball. (We are only allowed to ride around the church complex, but they still thought it was great!)
I then had each child paint a yellow bus. Both classes made the same bus, I just tweaked it a bit for the older class.
For the 3yr. class I had pre-drawn a bus shape on a large piece of paper. They then painted that yellow. When the bus dried, I cut the bus out and they added wheels, windows, a stop sign, and people on the bus.
For the Pre-K class I did it a bit differently. First they had to trace the bus on the paper. Then they painted it and let it dry. The next day they cut the bus out themselves. Finally they added wheels, a stop sign, windows, people, and lights. I did not write the word STOP on the stop sign. I had written the word on the board and let the children write it on the sign.
The three year old class is done tomorrow. We finish up with Mother's Day activities, then everything goes home. We will get together one time next week for a picnic and ta-da, summer vacation. WOW!

Great ideas for tailoring the activity for each age group. Renee
