Hot Chocotale--Yum, Yum!

Did we fill our bellies today! I can't imagine that the children were ready for some lunch when they left to school today.

If you are a regular reader, you may remember that we set up a hot chocolate shop in our room this time last year. We did that again this year. Today was the day for us to make some real hot chocolate and enjoy.

I decided to make a snack with the hot chocolate which they loved. The snack was called a snowflake. I found it a while back in a Mailbox magazine. It is one large marshmallow with pretzel sticks pushed in around the edge. The the children spread vanilla icing on top. When I made these before it was hard for the children to spread the icing, so this year I melted the icing, put it in Nancy bottles, and let them squeeze the icing on. I kept the bottles in warm water to keep the icing melted. This worked pretty well.

After we prepared our hot chocolate mix, I warmed some milk in the microwave to make yummy cups of hot chocolate. Last year we just used warm water, but I thought that the milk might make it more creamy.

Some of the children LOVED the hot chocolate, some did not like it, and some wore it--well, you know there was going to be spills. I have to say it was an exhausting day, but the kids seemed to have a great time.
