After some days off, we finally got to finish our rectangle. The children are pretty great cutters by now, but we'll really see how they fair with the circle.
We cut the rectangle out on the first day and found the--oh, I don't know--the 5000 different rectangles in our room? We could have spent the whole day finding rectangles. Which was actually a blessing after the triangle. We had a tough time with that triangle.
For the second page of our book we made a stove pipe hat, or a snowman's hat, or a magician's hat--take your pick. I gave the children all the rectangles and they had to piece them together to make the hat. Surprisingly, some had a bit of trouble with this, but all in all they did well.
Finally we added our rectangle collage to our shape wall. I just love how these collages are turning out. The children get so excited about making them. I may be biased, but I think if I framed them they would fit nicely in any art museum :).
Again, because of the snow, we were unable to finish our triangle collage before so we added that during play time this week too.
Off the our "spin" with the circle. I hope those little fingers are ready.
