We seem to be immersed in a hot chocolate theme here. Our Pre-K teacher just set up a Hot Chocolate Shop center and the children love it. I went in on Monday and almost every child was in the Hot Chocolate Shop and I had about 10 cups of hot chocolate and an immense amount of cookies.
The center is very basic, but oh how fun for them. She moved the kitchen around and added some styrofoam cups, some empty containers of powdered chocolate mix, some "marshmallows" (white pom poms), tablets, pens, pretend cookies, plates, and the cash register.

Seeing how much fun they are having with the center is really inspiring us to make sure we set up new centers more often.
Even our interactive board for the month includes some hot chocolate:

Great center!
Goes to show that all you need to do is nudge their imaginations a little, then step back and let 'em take it from there. Nice.
I love it - what a great idea for these cold winter days!
CUTE! I'm setting this up tomorrow!
I have a hot cocoa stand right now in my dramatic play center. Thanks for some good ideas---I plan to add a few more things!

We loved this so much that we made our own at home! We made a menu for the customers. We made each thing worth a nickel or dime to practice money recognition. We also had a paper for the waiter with little check-off boxes for what the customer ordered. So fun!
We made one, too! Thanks for the wonderful idea. Here is a post about it on my blog. I linked the post to yours. Thanks for the inspiration!
