A New Jellyfish

It's really amazing to me, but I get searches for jellyfish everyday--who knew they were so popular? So the other night, while in bed, you think I would be sleeping, this idea popped into my head. These jellyfish are really easy, although there is not a lot of children work to it, but they look cute hanging around.

You will need:

Plastic sandwich box

tissue paper

streamers

glue

yarn

tape

You know those clear plastic boxes that you get sandwiches in, or bring left overs home, or even plastic containers with pies in them, these are the types of containers I am talking about. I made my jellyfish with the sandwich box, but I think the pie container would also make a neat and bigger jellyfish.

Take the container and open it, poke a hole in the top lid. Cut a piece of yarn and tie a knot in one end, then wrap some tape around the other end. Thread the yarn through the hole in the lid. The tape makes for easier threading. After you pull the yarn all the way through, you might want to put some tape over the knot and hole for extra reinforcement.

Take a large piece of tissue paper, any color, and crumple it up--not too crumpled, then shove it into the box and shut the lid. My husband suggested that you could even add more than one color in the box--I thought that was a pretty good idea.

The final step is to cut some streamers to attach to the bottom of the box. At first I glued my streamers with a glue stick. I'm not sure if it was the plastic or what, but they didn't hold too well. You might want to try tacky, I ended up using the tape.

Your jellyfish are now ready to show off. Good luck.
