Finishing Our Puppy Puppets

I'm a bit under the weather today, so I hope this doesn't come across too negative or ho-humish(how do you like these words I come up with?). I'll try to be more myself soon. Also, remember that pet show I cancelled because of the weather? I awoke to blazing sun and warmth. What are you gonna do?

Today I decided to try just putting items on the table and having the children finish up their puppies however they wished. Not quite as easy as it sounds. We talked about all the items I put on the table, all the things they could do, etc., but many were lost. Yes, I guess that is my fault as we usually do crafts. I'll keep working. I had about four or five children just go at it, then the rest just KEPT asking, what else do I need? I would say, "What else would you like to add?"--then get the blank stare. So we talked about parts one might see on a dog. Then they wanted me to cut out the pieces for that part. I told them to just pick anything and see what they could come up with. I had a couple of alien dogs too, but I forgot to take a picture. I'm not sure if they enjoyed it or not. Baby steps Trish, baby steps.

I had watercolors out at one of the tables and let them go. I told Mrs. T I was letting them change and fill water today, letting them take care of things--again a big change. They actually did really well, no spills at all. They did love the water changing though. I think they did this more than paint.

I read a great book today, "What Pet to Get?", by Emma Dodd. It is really cute. A little boy wants to get a new pet and he comes up with some doosies. His supporting mom is always very helpful with directing his reasoning for a good or not so good choice. This book has some great vocabulary in it too. We enjoyed it.

Hi, it's my first time stopping in at your blog, and you have some great activities here. My daughter loves pouring activities too. Funny how little things like that can keep them so busy! Hope you feel better soon!
