Fingerprint Flowers and Bugs

Here's a really fun fingerprint activity. Be prepared for fingerprints, or just paint, everywhere.

You will need:

construction paper, I used light blue
paint or ink pad

The first thing is to take the construction paper and let the children draw some stems for flowers. Here comes the messy part. You are going to let then use their fingerprints to make flowers and bugs. I used paint to do this, but you can also use washable ink pads.

I painted my finger and pressed them where I wanted to make the prints. I made four flowers, some butterflies, bees, and ladybugs. After the paint dried I added some final touches with markers. I gave the butterflies antenna; the bees stripes, wings, eyes, and antenna; and finally the lady bug got some spots, eyes, and antenna. I think it turned out pretty cute.

I love fingerprint creations! When Sunshine was in preschool she made her teacher a flowerpot decorated with her little thumb prints that we worked together to make into ladybugs and bees. Your creations look adorable!
