St. Patrick's Day Songs

I thought while I was posting songs I would add some St. Patrick's Day songs. I included what I found about rainbows.

If you follow me you know I LOVE these books. They are really so useful. If you need song books these would be great to have on hand: Piggyback Songs and More Piggyback Songs by Jean Warren.

OH RAINBOW, OH RAINBOW
Sung to: "Oh, Christmas Tree"

Oh, rainbow, Oh rainbow
How lovely are your colors.
Oh, rainbow Oh, rainbow
How lovely are your colors,
Purple, red and orange too,
Yellow, green, and blue so true.
Oh, rainbow, Oh rainbow
How lovely are your colors.

LEPRECHAUNS
Sung to: "Three Blind Mice"

Leprechauns, Leprechauns,
Hiding here, hiding there,
They don't want us to see them play,
Ever year on St. Patrick's Day.
See them smile in their cute little way,
Leprechauns, Leprechauns.

Dr. Margery A. Kranyik
Hyde Park, MA

DO YOU KNOW WHAT A SHAMROCK IS?
Sung to: "Mary Had A Little Lamb"

Do you know what a shamrock is,
A shamrock is, a shamrock is,
Do you know what a shamrock is?
A shamrock is a plant.

Do you know where a shamrock grows,
A shamrock grows, a shamrock grows,
Do you know where a shamrock grows?
A shamrock grows in the ground.

Do you know what color a shamrock is,
A shamrock is, a shamrock is,
Do you know what color a shamrock is?
A shamrock is green.

I"M A LITTLE LEPRECHAUN
Sung to: "I'm A Little Teapot"

I'm a little leprechaun
Can you see?
I'm as tiny as I can be.
I come around just once a yer.
That's when St. Patrick's Day is near.

Betty Ruth Baker
Waco, TX

ON ST. PATRICK'S DAY
Sung to: "The Mulberry Bush"

Let's wear green and dance a jig,
Dance a jig, dance a jig.
Let's wear green and dance a jig.
On St. Patrick's Day.

All join hands and circle round,
Circle round, circle round,
All join hands and circle round,
On St. Patrick's Day.

Twirl your partner round-about
Round-about, Round-about,
Twirl your partner round-about,
On St. Patrick's Day.

Jean Warren

Here's one from my ancient folder--sorry I don't know the origin.

BRING IN RAINBOWS (poem)

One day while it was raining
And the clouds were hanging low,
The sun peeked out and then I saw,
A beautiful rainbow.
