Pilgrim Hat

Our pilgrim "men" don't get much fanfare--sorry guys. We ask parents to dress them with conservative colors and they wear a pilgrim hat.

You will need:

12 x 18 piece of black construction paper
small rectangle of yellow construction paper
glue

Cut a large circle out of the black construction paper.

Leaving about a 2-2 1/2 inch hat rim, cut out the center of the hat about 3/4 of the way around the circle.
Glue a little "buckle" made from the yellow paper to the center of the front of the hat. Little secret: to cut out the inside of the rectangle, fold the paper in half and cut out the middle. Now you can place the hat on his head. It stays pretty well. My pilgrim wore his for about a half hour before taking it off. It didn't fall off, but he also wasn't being overly rambunctious.

Another small item you can make are two yellow "buckles" for the boys' shoes. Sometimes these don't like to stay taped on though, lots of movement with little boy's feet:).

So, everyone is dressed and looking sharp. Now we practice, practice, practice for the big day.
